Bay Leaf Essential Oil is extracted by steam distillation of fresh leaves of the bay tree (Laurus nobilis). Bay Leaf Essential Oil smells herbaceous, fruity, fresh and camphorous.

Bergamot Essential Oil is a cold-pressed essential oil produced by cells inside the rind of a bergamot orange fruit. Bergamot Essential Oil has a very unique scent that is the combination of a sweet orange fragrance, with floral notes.

Calcium Carbonate
Calcium carbonate is a calcium salt with formula CCaO3, and is a natural mineral found in limestone. Calcium carbonate is used in our Tooth Cleaning Powder, and is an effective at cleaning and polishing teeth. It is not as hard as your own tooth enamel, and will thus not scratch or damage your teeth.
Canola Oil
Canola oil, or canola for short, is an edible vegetable oil derived from a variety of rapeseed. Canola oil is used in our soap bars, and helps create a smooth creamy lather and moisturise the skin.
Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil
Cinnamon Essential Oil is sourced from the bark of the cinnamon tree, and has a warm sweet aroma. Cinnamon Essential Oil is known for it's anti-bacterial properties, and is used in our Tooth Cleaning Powder.

Citric Acid
Citric acid is a weak organic acid that has the chemical formula C6H8O7. It occurs naturally in citrus fruits. Citric acid is a useful disinfectant against a variety of bacteria and viruses. It’s viewed as a safer alternative to conventional disinfectant and cleaning products, such as chlorine bleach.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is an edible oil extracted from the kernel or meat of mature coconuts harvested from the coconut palm. Coconut oil is an effective moisturiser, and is used in our soap bars.

French Green Clay is a pure, untreated clay, with a light green colour and soft texture. French Green Clay is extracted from naturally occurring deposits in France and China, this clay is known for its absorbent, purifying and skin calming properties.

Jojoba oil is extracted from the seed of the Jojoba plant (Simmondsia chinensis), a shrub, which is native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico. Jojoba oil is a very effective skin moisturiser and is naturally high in Vitamin E, and B-complex vitamins.

Sodium Bi-carbonate
Also known as Baking Soda.
Sodium bicarbonate is a chemical compound with the formula NaHCO₃. Sodium bicarbonate is a white solid that is crystalline, but often appears as a fine powder. It is often used in natural skincare, body, and home cleaning products.
Sodium Carbonate
Also known as Soda Ash and Washing Soda.
Sodium carbonate is the sodium salt of carbonic acid. It is a strong alkali base used in green cleaning products. The sodium carbonate "softens" water helping other cleaning ingredients lift soil from the fabrics and suspend the soil in the wash water. This makes it an ideal ingredient in our Natural Laundry Powder.
Sodium Hydroxide
Sodium Hydroxide is an essential ingredient in the soap making process. When sodium hydroxide beads or flakes are mixed with a liquid, a lye solution is created. This solution, when mixed with fats and oils, will cause a chemical reaction called saponification. In it's natural form, Sodium Hydroxide is caustic and hazardous, but does not retain these qualities when saponified into the soap solution.
Sodium Per-Carbonate
Also known as Oxygen Bleach.
Sodium Per carbonate is made from sodium carbonate (also know as soda ash) and hydrogen peroxide. It works by releasing oxygen once it is exposed to water. This release of oxygen lifts stains and dirt off whatever you’re cleaning.
Sweet Orange Essential Oil
Sweet Orange Essential Oil is extracted from the sweet orange plant (Citrus sinensis).

Squalane
Squalane is an oil derived by hydrogenation of squalene. Hydrogenation makes squalane more stable than it's counterpart squalene. It is naturally found in many animals and plants, including human sebum. Plant-derived squalane is sourced from olives, rice or sugar cane. At Cape of Storms, we use squalane that is eco-certified and that is sourced from sugarcane - for use in our face oil.
